Change caption background opacity or color?

Is there a way to change the color or opacity of the captions background? The captions are hard to read on our videos because the speaker is wearing a white shirt. A darker / more opaque background for the captions would help a lot.

We don’t want to hard code captions – that won’t meet out users’ needs – but we do need to make sure they are easy to read.
