I don't understand how I should use Collections?

I’m totally novice, but purchased Gumlet. I do not understand how and why I use the collections. I understand it helps to “organize” videos. Can someone explain specifically?

@dannybmindful, welcome to the community.

Let’s go deeper into the video collections:

  • The collections in Gumlet are more like an abstract layer that works like projects/workspaces.
  • You can invite people to specific collection(s), they will have limited access to that collection only.
  • A channel can be created at a collection level.
  • You can check video analytics of a collection specifically.
  • If you have more than one type of video use case, i.e., marketing, tutorial, product, etc. You can choose different processing settings for different collections.

Let me know if you have more queries.

Thank you, Akbansa. For instance, I have courses on my website. A course may have 8 classes in it–each class having 7 sections. Would each “course” be a separate “collection”? How do I organize the classes and the sections below the “course”/“collection”?

If there is only going to be one course, then create different collection for each class. Create different playlists to manage each section.

If there can be many courses, choose the course as a collection. Create a playlist for each class. For each section, you can create tags, for internal management if that’s all you need. If you want to create a channel out of it, use playlist name as Class 1 -> Section 1, Class 1 -> Section 2, etc.
