This video takes you through what video resolutions are what to expect with those on Gumlet.
Resolution Of A Video : Width X Height (similar to Image)
Aspect Ratio Of A Video : Width : Height (again similar to Image)
Notes
-
Please stick with industry standard aspect ratio: 16:9 or 9:16 or 4:3 or 3:4 etc to avoid the output video looking " not normal" or looking stretched.
-
A 4k video can be downsized to QHD (1440p) , SD (1080p) and smaller and NOT the other way around. EG: We will not upscale a 2K video to 4K.
-
The video will play 4k when the container and device width has support for i. If thats not the case, for HLS videos especially, a more economical video resolution (2k, SD and smaller) will be chosen even if a 4k version is avaliable.
-
To force a particular resolution at all times on Gumlet , please choose mp4 output and specify the width and height.
-
More and higher resolutions lead to more data streamed and increase in bandwidth, hence please be mindful of your usecase and scale, your original videos and how big or small will the actual video player be on your platform (are you going for a smaller embed vs full screen experience)
